Resources
Modeling (MD) is the demonstration of a desired target behavior that results in use of the behavior by the learner and that leads to the acquisition of the target behavior.
Module(s): Modeling
This packet includes all the resources and materials, as well as an overview and a brief description of strategies/types/procedures for this evidence-based practice.
Module(s): Modeling
In order to learn from a model, a learner needs three prerequisite skills.8 The learner must be able to:
- Imitate othersÂ’ behaviors,
- Perform some of the component skills that make up the target skill, and
- Sustain attention long enough to watch the model perform the target skill.
Module(s): Modeling
Reinforcers increase the likelihood that the target skill/behavior will be used again in the future. To identify a variety of reinforcers, team members should consider conducting a reinforcer sampling. A reinforcer sampling helps to identify activities and materials that are motivating to the learner on the spectrum, which lead to a decrease in behaviors interfering with their learning or safety.
Module(s): Modeling
If a peer or sibling will model the identified target skill or behavior, then training might be needed.
Module(s): Modeling
When modeling is used as a prime, a cue is provided to the learner to watch the model.
